Please Welcome Les Miller & Sons

From Left - Glen, Dick, Juliann, & Terry Miller

Les Miller & Sons Coming Soon to St. Johns Plant

Agro-Culture LIQUID Fertilizers is proud to announce the sale of their former St. Johns Manufacturing Facility to Les Miller & Sons.  Les Miller & Sons started with just a couple trucks and a farm loader in 1965, with Lester Miller working to build a business while farming at the same time.  The business grew over the years to include 3 mining operations, excavation, and trucking enterprises offering a wide range of services to their customers.  Now operated by Dick, Jim, Glen and Terry Miller, the business continues to prosper and grow.  “I never thought that we would outgrow our Taft road site” says mother, Juliann.   The company continues to provide a wide range of services to customers throughout the state of Michigan.  ”We can offer customers quality aggregate products through our mining operations” says Dick Miller who works together with Jim Miller to provide customers with the product that they need.  “With our trucking operations, we are able to provide an even wider range of products and deliver them when and where needed” says Terry Miller who oversees trucking operations.  The company operates 6 semi tractor trailers throughout the state from.  The company also has several excavators, dozers, and other dirt equipment.   “We try to provide customers with common sense solutions for new construction and repairs to existing infrastructure,” says Glen Miller who supervises the excavation team which includes several operators.  The expansion will allow streamlined operations with larger facilities for maintenance and storage of equipment.  With the acreage on the site, there is room for future expansions.
Agro-Culture LIQUID Fertilizers recently relocated their manufacturing operations to Ashley where railroad service is available.  Corporate offices will remain in St. Johns.  “It is great to see our expansion allowing another company to do the same on the property that we built our business on over the past 25 years” says Nick Bancroft of Agro-Culture LIQUID Fertilizers.
Final decommission is expected in the next few months with Les Miller & Sons beginning to operate out of the location early in 2012.

Moving and Removing

This week brings us to some more deidentifying of the old plant facility in St. Johns.  The signs there have been a landmark in the community for over 25 years.  While it is sad to see them go, it is good to see progress.  Stay tuned for an announcement about new owners in the next week or two.

Ashley - Open House Preparations

We are getting ready for the open house at an rapid pace.  Things are coming together nicely with the excavation finishing up.  Everybody is getting everything spruced up and getting the final things put together and cleaned up.

Below is the NE corner of the site that was used as a staging area for all of the materials.
New cement is finished North of the building leaving lots of good parking spots.

The railroad was doing some repairs on the main line.
They were doing final grading between the truck parking and the railroad.  This will be where the 3 - 500,000 gal tanks will go.
The train went by when we were there - that always makes a good picture.  The cones in the gravel are marking the center line of the new tanks.
New spur is complete.  There is still some material to add to level things up but everything is final graded.  Looks much nicer than the tree swamp that was there before.
The city is working on finishing up the water main project along Sectionline St. I hope they get that done and cleaned up by the show.
You can see the lighted directional sign.  Everything is coming along good.  Looking forward to the public open house August 24th from 4-6:30 - Everyone is welcome so tell all your friends.
